Color grade done in DaVinci Resolve, from log to delivery. The shot is converted from Red Log3G10 into DaVinci Wide Gamut, where all the work takes place before the final conversion to Rec.709. Exposure and white balance are set in linear gamma, using gamma and gain wheels only, to stay as close as possible to a setting made directly in-camera. Contrast is then built up while keeping detail in the shadows, followed by work on density, hue and saturation in HSV, with the yellows isolated to bring back the greenery in the frame. The look is built on a split tone using log wheels and curves: yellow in the highlights, blue in the shadows. Sky and sea are isolated with masks and an HSL qualifier, and two vignettes darken the edges to draw the eye to the center of the frame. Diffusion, halation and grain finish the image, giving it its final texture.
